Dear Minnesota Digital Library listserv members:

A lot of you have loved the chance to volunteer to work at the MINITEX booth
at the State Fair.
Well, your chance to volunteer for the 2007 great state get together is
here!

Below is the message from MINITEX asking for volunteers

If you¹re interested in volunteering, please let Kristen Mastel at MINITEX
meye0539 at umn.edu know as soon as possible if you want to work a shift.
Please copy me mrrengel at stcloudstate.edu on your replies to Kristen.

Deadline for volunteering is August 3.
They REALLY, REALLY want people to work a 6-hour shift. They try very hard
to give you the time and date you want.

It¹s that time of year again‹time to recruit volunteers for the
MINITEX/University Libraries/MnLINK/Minnesota Digital Library (MDL) exhibit
in the Education Building at the 2007 State Fair.

Some things to know about this year¹s State Fair exhibit:

* Theme for this year¹s exhibit: Try Cool Tools @ Your Library
* The four partners are excited to promote our statewide resources,
available to all Minnesotans, online all the time:

o Electronic Library for Minnesota (ELM)
o MnLINK Gateway
o MDL¹s Minnesota Reflections
o University of Minnesota Health Sciences Libraries¹ My Health Minnesota
-> Go Local
· The interactive exhibit will have six computers set up in three
distinct areas to allow for a hands-on, though guided, experience. We¹ll
have sample searches for fairgoers to try and sample searches for our
staff/volunteers to use in demonstrating the tools for those fairgoers less
than eager to fly solo.
* The Fair runs from Thursday, August 23 Monday, September 3.
* Exhibit staffing time is from 9 am - 9 pm every day.
* One person from each shift will be responsible for setting up or closing
down the exhibit (these activities are minimal).
* Standard shifts are 6 hours each, which is a full-day equivalent (Shift
One: 9 am to 3 pm; Shift Two: 3 pm to 9 pm).
* Each shift will be staffed with at least 3 staff/volunteers.
* There will be a training session for all staff/volunteers. We¹ll make
sure that everyone receives the training they¹ll need to feel comfortable
talking about these great library tools, including cheat sheets, sample
searches, and other support materials.
* MINITEX will arrange for day passes and State Fair t-shirts to be worn by
staff/volunteers while staffing the exhibit.

Let Kristen know,

* How many shifts you would like to work
* Preferred dates you would like to work
* Preferred times you would like to work
* Any dates/times you absolutely cannot work
* T-shirt size

This year¹s State Fair should be a great time. Just think of it‹the
people-watching, the traditional fair food (anything and everything you
could want ³on a stick²), and a great opportunity to spread the word about
our Cool Library Tools.

Please let me or Kristen know if you have any questions. And thanks so much
for your help!
