[Aviation_Students] Scholarship deadlines approaching

UNIVERSITY AVIATION ASSOCIATION
A number of scholarships for students in aviation-related fields have
application deadlines this spring. Interested students should apply as
soon as possible to ensure being considered. All necessary application
forms and information are centrally located under the "Scholarships"
link at www.uaa.aero <http://www.uaa.aero/> .
Of particular note are six $2,500 scholarships offered by the Chicago
Area Business Aviation Association (CABAA). Recipients must be from the
Chicago area or the state of Illinois, but can utilize the scholarships
towards tuition at any UAA member institution. Applicants must be
full-time students majoring in an aviation-related field at a UAA member
college or university and should have completed at least 30 credit hours
at their current institution. They should also have a minimum cumulative
GPA of 2.50 or higher on a 4.0 scale and should submit a typed,
double-spaced essay (two pages minimum) explaining their aviation goals
and how the scholarship and the CABAA can help them meet those goals.
Finally, they must provide at least one letter of recommendation.
The application deadline is April 20, 2007.

Two Joseph Frasca Excellence in Aviation Scholarships of $2,000 each are
to be awarded by the Frasca family in the name of their late son,
Joseph.
Juniors or seniors currently enrolled at a UAA member college or
university are encourage to apply. Successful applicants must show a
record of academic excellence and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or
above and have FAA certification/qualification in either aviation
maintenance or flight. They must demonstrate membership in at least one
aviation organization.
Demonstrated interest in aviation simulation, aircraft restoration, or
aerobatics is also preferred, as is aviation-related work experience.
Applications must be received by April 9, 2007.

Another opportunity is available through a $2,000 scholarship awarded in
memory of Paul A. Whelan, an exemplary aviation educator. The Paul A.
Whelan Scholarship supports men and women pursuing a future in aviation
and/or space-related fields. To apply, students must be U.S. citizens
and a sophomore, junior, or senior in an aviation or space-related major
at a UAA member institution. Additionally, they must have a minimum 2.5
overall GPA and a 3.0 or higher GPA in their major and be able to
demonstrate leadership and extracurricular/community involvement. FAA
certification as a pilot or mechanic, former or current military service
in either ROTC, active forces, or the reserves, and membership in an
aviation-related organization such as the UAA is also preferred.
Applications must be received by May 15, 2007.

The Airports Council International-North America (ACI-NA) Commissioners
Committee Scholarship is intended to provide a scholarship for academic
achievement to students at an accredited educational institution who are
working toward a degree and career in airport management or airport
administration. (The scholarship is not intended for flight-related
majors.) Up to three annual scholarships may be awarded in amounts up to
$5,000 per recipient.
Applications must be received by April 15, 2007.

CAE SimuFlite, a Dallas-based aviation training corporation, will award
four corporate aircraft training scholarships in 2007. These
scholarships will be awarded to students or recent graduates of
University Aviation Association member institutions. The scholarship
will include Citation initial training resulting in a type rating upon
successful completion of the course. The applicant is responsible for
all travel and housing related costs.
Applications must be received by March 31, 2007.
